.Little whorls
of candied orange peel and honey, surrounded by a constellation of whole
almonds.
These simplest of ingredients make for a cake which is both compact and
exquisitely aromatic.
Prepared throughout the island and especially for weddings, they symbolize sa torratura that is 'the restitution', by which the guests are thanked for having honoured
the occasion with their presence.
A peculiarity: these Coffettura are also offered at ordinations when the deacon
by celebrating his first Mass marries the Bride of Christ - the Church. |
